ABSTRACT OR GENERAL INTRODUCTION
Enzyme catalase speed up the reaction time of certain chemical process, but how does different temperatures affect the chemical reaction of enzyme catalase in hydrogen peroxide. This experiment will determine the effectiveness of enzyme catalase at different temperatures and when does enzymes have their optimum activity. We have assumed that when the temperature gets above 37°C (the normal body temperature), the enzymes will become less effective. This was done by changing the temperature of hydrogen peroxide (independent variable) in test tubes and recording the height of the bubbles (dependent variable) when a potato (enzyme catalase) is placed in it. The experimental results supported my hypothesis by showing that when the temperature gets above the 37°C, the enzyme catalase starts becoming less effective. The experiment also showed that enzyme catalase gets its optimum activity at 37°C (the normal body temperature).
OVERARCHING AIM
The aim of my experiment is to investigate how different temperatures affect the chemical reaction of enzyme catalase in hydrogen peroxide.
